Trane vs Carrier Heat Pumps: A Buyer's Side-by-Side (With 3.5 Ton AC Unit Price Data)

And for the water heater: pick the heat pump water heater for most offices and homes with steady but not extreme hot water use. Pick tankless only when you have genuine overlapping demand and you're comfortable with the maintenance.

One last thing: the prices above come from October 2024 quotes and are for general reference only—verify current rates with local dealers, especially because HVAC pricing varies meaningfully by region. And get at least three quotes. Ours for identical Trane specs varied by over $2,100. That spread is normal in this industry. In the end, the dealer you work with might matter more than the badge on the unit.
